Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends

This california heat wave can’t stop my husband and I from making some yummy Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends. We have been trying to up our smoker cooking game, and this recipe for Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends, will gather the crowd.

I found some delicious looking pork belly at Costco, and we love seasoning our bbq with this Sweet Preacher Sweet Southern Pork Rub, but feel free to try your favorite bbq pork rub with this recipe.

Our Traeger Smoker has been put to good use this summer, and finding new recipes to try out, has been our new hobby.

We are using a keto friendly brown sugar substitute today, but you can easily swap with regular brown sugar. Cutting down on my carb intake, has helped me to lose over 75 pounds, and this sugar substitute helps me to keep all the flavor of this Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends recipe.

The glaze that the butter, sugar and honey creates, is so delicious, and the pork belly is crisp yet still tender and delicious!

Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends

2 1/2 pounds of pork belly cut into 1 inch pieces 

4 tablespoons of your favorite bbq pork rub

1 stick of butter cut into slices 

1/2 cup of brown sugar or low carb brown sugar substitute 

2 tablespoons of honey

Pre-heat smoker 250 degrees.

Season pork belly pieces with bbq pork rub on both sides 

Place pork belly pieces on a baking rack, and place in the smoker for 1 and 1/2 hours.

Remove pork from smoker, and transfer pork belly to a medium sized oven safe baking pan.

Sprinkle liberally with brown sugar

Sprinkle with a bit more bbq rub (optional)

Spread pats of butter evenly over top.

Drizzle evenly with honey.

Cover pan with foil.

Place pan back in smoker for about another hour.

Remove pan from smoker and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
