Pizza Dough Disneyland Mickey Beignets
One of my personal favorite snacks from Disneyland, has to be their Mickey Beignets. In Disneyland, the only place that you can find them is at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. (You can usually find me there.)
Disneyland Beignets, and a hot cup of coffee, is how I usually ended a full day in Disneyland. We used to get our coffee and beignets and watch fantasmic! These were so good, especially on chilly autumn nights.
So I decided to try my take on them, using my dear husband Robert’s recipe for his Best Homemade Pizza Dough.
You cannot leave Disneyland without trying a beignet. They are so warm and fluffy, and all the powdered sugar that’s dusted on top, just make them sooo sweet! I also love the pumpkin beignets that they serve during the fall.
To make these, I just used my husband’s pizza dough recipe for these Pizza Dough Disneyland Mickey Beignets, and after the dough has risen, I rolled them out on a flour dusted surface, and cut out the Mickey shapes with this Mickey shaped cookie cutter. I was able to get quite a few out of the dough, like 8-10 of the Mickey beignets. If you find that you still have a lot of dough left over, you can definitely freeze the rest for another time.
I then heat up some oil in a deep frying pan, and began frying in batches, until they were golden brown on each side.
I transferred the beignets to a paper towel lined plate to drain excess oil. I then generously sprinkled on fine powdered sugar to evenly coat. To make this step easier, I used my powdered sugar dusting cup.
You can also use canned pizza dough, like pillsbury’s, or better yet, ask your local pizza parlor if they sell pizza dough. We used to buy it at our pizza parlor, and it was amazing!
