Disneyland Churros Copycat Recipe

There’s nothing quite like a churro from the carts at Disneyland. When I heard that they opened up a portion of Disneyland’s California Adventure for eating and shopping, I got pretty excited, even though I am still not ready to venture out just yet. Then I remembered that Disney had put up an official recipe for their delicious Churros a while back, and I decided to make a Disneyland Churros Copycat Recipe.

Disneyland Churros Copycat Recipe

If you have ever been to Disneyland, then you know what I am talking about when I say that their Churros are something that you find yourself eating as soon as you can after entering the park. Walking down Main Street with a Disneyland Churro in hand is one of my favorite memories. I can’t wait until we are able to walk down that street again, and experience the happiness of my favorite place.

Making the dough

This Disneyland Churros Copycat Recipe is not too hard if you are experienced in making pat a choux dough. If you have never tried making pat a choux dough, then it might be a little intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of it, you will feel like a pastry chef! At least I know I did.

Back in the day, I had a couple of failures with this dough, but watching videos online, really helped me to understand the concept of it, then I was on a roll! And this dough is so smooth and super delicious! When you make this recipe, you will have that Disneyland feeling. Especially when eating these churros while watching Disney’s original Dumbo!

For this Disneyland Churros Copycat Recipe, you will need:

  • 1 cup water
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1½ cups vegetable or canola oil
  • 3 eggs

When you add the dough to a large piping bag, make sure to fasten the end that you filled it from with a rubber band, or just hold tightly so that the filling doesn’t spill out. Then squeeze the dough into the hot oil and using your other hand, or a kitchen helper person, cut of the dough length that you prefer, using kitchen shears.

Let them float around, but don’t overcrowd them by adding too much at once. Try to do this in batches.

When they are golden brown, remove the churros with a slotted spoon, or a mesh strainer spoon, and place them on a paper towel covered dish to drain any excess oil.

Then toss in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon powder and place in a dish and watch them disappear!

Let me know in the comments how they turned out for you!
