Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops Tutorial

Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops

There is nothing better in the fall than a Disney Mickey Pumpkin! It gives me all the feels of the season. And that’s why Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops are my favorite fall treat!

My favorite time to visit Disneyland, is Halloween time. The snacks are amazing and you can’t get enough. One of the main attraction of this wonderful time at Disneyland, is seeing all the Mickey Pumpkin decorations.

There is the big one on Main Street, where it’s an amazing photo op, and along Main Street you will find a Mickey Pumpkin decorating many light posts.
It’s one of my favorite decorations to look at. I love making Disney inspired snacks and home, and I thought it would be such a treat to try to make Disneyland Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops today.

The gadget that saved me during this process was my Wilton chocolate melting pot. This thing really held up to it’s promise, and delivered some evenly melted and smooth candy melts that were perfect for these Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops.

SUPER COOL TIP:

Make sure to add in a bit of vegetable shortening to your melting candy melts, and this will help to thin the consistency a bit, for easier dipping.

What you will need for these Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops:

Mini Golden Oreos

Double Stuffed Oreos

Lollipop Sticks

Orange Colored Candy Melts

Wilton Chocolate Melting Pot

Vegetable Shortening

Parchment Paper

Edible Pens

To begin, add the contents of one bag of candy melts to your melting pot, and set on melt. This will take a while, because as this amount was halfway melted, I added another bag of candy melts.

It will take about 45 minutes for everything to get melted and smooth. It may take a bit longer than that, just check consistency by stirring with a fork to check for smoothness.

Now, when it was about 80% melted, I added in about a tablespoon of vegetable shortening, and let that melt in for a few minutes. Once everything in the melting pot was a smooth consistency, we were ready to go!

During the time that I was waiting for the candy to melt, I began to prepare my Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops, by separating a double stuffed Oreo, and separating a mini Oreo.

On the larger Oreo that in in half, I added a bit of the melted candy melts, to the Oreo, where I am to place the mini Oreos for the ears. Doing this will make a glue for the mini Oreos to adhere.

I then placed the mini Oreo halves where the melted candy is placed, and I topped the mini Oreo halves with a bit more melted candy melts, ans I added melted candy melts to the end of the lollipop Stick, and placed in the Oreo to for the pop.

I quickly then, placed the other half of the double stuffed Oreo on top, and pressed very gently to adhere to Oreo Pop.
I repeated for about 10 Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops.

I placed them on a baking sheet covered with a piece of parchment paper, then popped them in the fridge to chill for about 15 minutes. (Or until the candy melts were smooth, melted and ready for dipping.)

I dipped each one carefully in the melted candy melts, and held it over the melting pot to let the excess drip while spinning the pop slowly to make sure that the excess drips off evenly.

Once, I saw that the excess dripped of best to my liking, I placed a few to sit up straight in a cup that had rice in the bottom. I also placed some to dry and harden, on baking sheet covered with a piece of parchment paper, and popped them back in the fridge to set and harden, about 15 minutes.

Once they were set, I worked on them one at a time, using my edible pens to decorate Mickey’s face.

I started with the yellow edible pen to make the eyes, nose and mouth.

I then used the brown edible pen to place the lines of the pumpkin shape.

Last, I used black edible pen to line the eyes, nose and mouth to give it dimension.

After creating the features on your Mickey Pumpkin Oreo Pops, you can place them on a plate or platter for serving, or maybe a Cake Pop Stand, or standing up right in your favorite fall/Halloween jar or cup.

The kids are sure to love these, as well as any Disneyland Fan! Like me;)
