The 4th of July is always a big celebration for us. We plan our holiday around good food and good friends. This 4th of July will be having a big BBQ with all the fixings. Everybody pitches in by bringing a tray of something yummy, and there is always a lot of fireworks! My husband and son will be in charge of the grill, and my daughter will be in charge of music.

We have a built-in fire pit in the backyard, and the kids are planning to make s’mores and hot dogs. Then we all head over to the park, to watch an awesome fireworks display.

We take our fireworks very seriously. We always pack up our folding chairs, blankets, snacks and cooler, and head to the park. My husband always buys glow necklaces for the kids, but my teens think they are too old for them, so I end up wearing all of them.
The night sky soon lights up and the patriotic music starts to play. For me, this is the start of summer.

On most summer gatherings, I like to make a big bowl of Classic Macaroni Salad, not only because it is easy, feeds a large crowd, and is delicious, but my kids love it!

The onion has just the right flavor and is not too overpowering, and the addition of Dill Pickles gives it just enough tangyness!
Is tangyness a word? I think so.
So get ready to celebrate with this yummy dish for your backyard bash!

This recipe would also go great with my Fried Pork Chops or my Mama’s Fried Chicken.
Happy 4th of July everybody:)
