Root Beer Float - A Fathers Day Treat!

I have received this item by Personal Creations, an FTD company, as part of a Fathers Day campaign, and all of my opinions are my own.

Father’s Day is here, and I am doing two things. I am remembering my dad who passed a few years back, and I am also celebrating my husband who is an awesome dad to our two teens. If there is one drink that my hubby loves, it’s Root Beer!

He could drink it everyday. And he is a sucker for ice cream, so for Father’s Day, I surprised him with this awesome personalized beer mug, from Personal Creations, that tells him how much he is loved, and every time he pours himself a cold one, he is reminded of that.

I am making my husband the ultimate root beer float with a chocolate coated rim on the mug, so that this drink is a little sweeter! I love the way glasses or mugs are coated in chocolate and sprinkles, because not only does it look so cool, but it tastes awesome!

Personal Creations, has so many wonderful items to choose from for dad, and lots of gift ideas for everyone as well, and I love that it can be personalized and made to be extra special. I love to add personal touches to gifts!

For this Root Beer Float, you will need some melted chocolate. About 1 ounce. I used both white, and dark chocolate bark for this. And once melted in a large enough bowl, or plate, you just dip the rim of the glass in the chocolate gently, and then dip, or sprinkle on the sprinkles! You could also use finely chopped nuts or candy, but I love the look of dark chocolate sprinkles!

Then you just place a few scoops of vanilla ice cream in the mug, and fill it with your favorite root beer, and top it with some whipped cream! Super simple, and delicious.
You could use diet root beer, and low carb ice cream too, and it would be a fantastic treat!

Root Beer Float

Ingredients

  • 3-4 scoops of your favorite ice cream
  • 8-10 oz of root beer
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate fudge
  • 1 ounce melted chocolate
  • Chocolate sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Begin by melting chocolate in a large enough bowl to hold beer mug, or glass. When chocolate is melted, tip mug or glass upside-down gently into melted chocolate, so that you coat the rim. Lift mug gently, and hold for a few seconds upside- down to remove excess chocolate. Sprinkle generously with sprinkles, and set in fridge of freezer for a few minutes to set. Remove from fridge, and place scoops of ice cream in mug. Then pour root beer in mug slowly to not make to many suds. Top with whipped cream, and a drizzle of chocolate fudge and serve immediately.
