Italian Beef Sandwiches

Slow Cooker Italian Beef Sandwiches is just something that I had to try. There is a special spot here in california, where the beef sandwiches are to die for. This place is called Portillo’s, and it is in Buena Park California. They are authentic beef sandwiches, and you can’t get any better than Portillo’s. But it is still quite a drive from my home. It would take about 1 hour or more drive. But when we are near that area, we always stop in.

So I am trying to create that delicious flavor at home, and with minimal effort. I have a home filled with true carnivores, and I love the idea that you can just throw a few ingredients in the slow cooker and forget about it for a while. As a matter of fact, I am making a batch right now, as I write this! The tangy flavor of the mild peppers, and the Italian dressing packet that has so much flavor really bring this dish together. I loved the idea of using the Italian salad dressing packet, because it has all of the flavors ready to go! I added in a few more extras to my liking, and boy is this a winner!

I promise, that whoever you serve this to will want the recipe for themselves. My friends did! They could not get enough, and neither will you. It is also perfect for the summer, and you can just eat it on the patio, and enjoy the weather. And because you don’t have to have the oven heating up the whole house, is even better! That is why I love using the slow cooker in summer.

I serve this with a side of pickles, and some chips for my teenage son, because for him, no meal should be served without chips! So try this Italian favorite and prepare to devour!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 - 3 pound chuck roast
  • 1 envelope Italian dressing seasoning mix
  • 1 jar Pepper rings, mild
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Add chuck roast to slow cooker, then add everything on top of roast. Cover with lid and set on high for 5-6 hours, or low for 7-8 hours. Serve on french rolls with Giardiniera (optional)
