With super bowl Sunday coming up, I have been having a Blast! I showed you guys How To Make A Supreme Snack Stadium, and to go along with it, I thought I would share an awesome Swedish Meatball Sliders recipe, that is perfect for the ultimate tailgate/viewing party! You can stack these babies up in your Snack Stadium, and everybody will freak their freak! And that’s a good thing! Super Bowl parties will never be the same! Serving these sliders, will make you seem a little bit sophisticated, and a lot of cool! Imagine watching the game, and biting into a slider of awesomeness! Can you taste it?!
Now I am sure that you have heard of Swedish Meatballs, and how famous they are thanks to IKEA, the greatest Swedish Meatball maker, of all time, and all of the delicious food blogs out there that have featured Swedish Meatballs, but have you heard of putting these little scrumptious balls of meat, served in a Hawaiian sweet roll to create a slider??? No… I didn’t think so.
Swedish Meatball Sliders
Ingredients
- Meatball Ingredients:
- Non-stick cooking spray
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup of milk
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Gravy Ingredients:
- 5 tbsp. butter
- 3 tbsp. flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp. kosher salt
- ½ tsp. pepper
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg.
- Cook, stirring frequently, until onions have become translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in garlic, and cook for another minute or two, until garlic is fragrant.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Meanwhile in a large bowl, combine Meatball ingredients: Onion, ground beef, Panko breadcrumbs, milk, eggs.
- Add in cooled onion mixture, and using your hands combine well, and shape into 1 1/2 inch balls.
- In a large skillet that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray, brown meatballs on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Do this in batches.
- Remove from pan, and set aside. Using the same pan, add in butter, and flour, and whisk constantly for 2 minutes, or until smooth.
- Whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, heavy cream, and parsley.
- Bring to a simmer, and whisk until gravy has thickened, about 8-10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and carfuly place meatballs
- into gravy, spaced evenly.
- Cover with a lid, and let simmer 20-30 minutes. While that is cooking, slice the sweet rolls in half and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush tops, and inner bottoms of rolls with melted parsley butter.
- Place baking sheet in a pre-heated 350 degree oven, for 4-5 minutes, or until tops of buns a just a bit crisp. Careful not to burn rolls.
- Promptly remove from oven, and place a Swedish Meatball, and a few cooked egg noodles, to each bottom half of roll. Top with top half of roll, and insert toothpick to secure. Serve warm.
