Steak-Pizzaiola-Sandwiches

I am so happy to be a part of this party, and I want to send a big THANK YOU to Tammy from Creative K Kids, for bringing me on as a Host! I will be bringing you awesome recipe ideas, and an awesome link party, where you can find so many wonderful food and recipe ideas right here, every Tuesday Morning!

I am hosting Tasty Tuesdays, with 5 other fabulous bloggers, and we are here to start the fun each week!

And for the first Party of the year, I wanted to share with y’all, a delicious Steak Pizzaiola Sandwich recipe, that you won’t soon forget! I first saw this recipe on an episode of my favorite Food Network show of all time – Diners Drive-ins and Dives. Guy Fieri was visiting one of my favorite cities, New York. He stopped by Defonte’s Italian Restaurant, and I could not take my eyes of this sandwich! I knew that I had to make this sandwich for my guys, because this is their ultimate guy food!

You start off by pounding the meat very thin, and get them browned a bit in a pan of hot Olive Oil. Then you slowly add them into some seasoned Tomato Sauce, and let them get tender, for about an hour.

Then just pile them high, on a bun, along with your favorite cheese, and set them to bake until the bun is hot, and the cheese has melted.

Your family will want this over and over again. I know my kids did! Checkout the recipe below, and then off to the party!!

Steak Pizzaiola Sandwiches!

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 pounds chuck roast thin sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3 8 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 bread buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Begin by pounding the chuck roast slices thin, with a meat tenderizer.
  3. Season pounded slices with salt and pepper, and sauté in olive oil, on medium heat, until meat has browned. About 2 minutes each side. Remove meat from pan, and place in a strainer to drain any fat, and set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, garlic powder, basil. oregano, Parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add sautéed chuck steak strips to tomato sauce, and let simmer on low heat for about an hour.
  6. Place sliced bread buns on a baking sheet, and top with cooked meat and sauce, and two slices of mozzarella for each sandwich.
  7. Top with other half of bun.
  8. Place baking sheet in oven for 10-12 minutes, or until cheese has melted.
