Oven baked ribs

While the days are getting a little cooler, it feels like it is time to start cooking in the oven. Especially when the barbecue grill falls apart during the summer 🙁

But no worries, because my oven will do just fine for barbecue ribs. With this recipe, they will be tender and delicious. I am using a rub without sugar, because I am trying to keep these on the lower carb side. I love to experiment with different spices, and cumin has been leading as my current favorite spice. My second favorite has to be dried thyme. I think you can use it in almost any dish.

This Oven Baked Barbecue Ribs Recipe, will pair well with my Simple Southern Potato Salad and my Easy Creamy Coleslaw. And the great thing about making ribs in the oven, is that you can make this for dinner, anytime of year. Not just summer.

In order to prepare the pork ribs, you should remove the silver skin on the back of the ribs. It makes for a more tender bite, because the silver skin, can be really tough. To remove this silver skin, (I don’t know why it is called that) you must have a sharp knife, like the colorful Cuisinart that I am using, and work very VERY carefully.

I start by removing a little bit by sliding the knife in between the silver skin, and the meat, then pull up to cut through it. Then with one hand, hold the skin, as you slowly cut the skin off the ribs. Please use caution and be careful not to cut yourself.

Once that job is done, the rest is pretty easy! Just rub, wrap, set it and forget it!
When the ribs are done cooking for 3 1/2 hours, you can serve them as is, or slather some barbecue sauce on them, and let them broil for a few minutes, as I have done.
