I will be making fajitas in a bit and I wanted to share how to slice and spoon out an avocado. When I was younger, I did not know hoe to slice one or remove the pit without a spoon and I found it a little struggle to get the pit out. I saw someone demonstrate the correct way on tv, and I thought ‘ What is wrong with me, how simple!. ‘ So I am sure most of you already know how, but for those who don’t or just want to see how I do it:
First you need to cut around the avocado. You can feel the pit of the avocado as you slice through.
Separate the avocado, to make two halves, and reveal the pit.
I take the same knife, and hit the pit with the blade to wiggle the pit out.
Once the pit is out, start slicing each half of avocado while it is in its shell. First I slice horizontally, then vertical r maybe a bit diagonally 🙂
Then simply scoop out flesh of avocado with a spoon and empty into a bowl.
Continue with other side.
One avocado pieces are in bowl, just add some seasonings that you like. I added a bit of garlic powder and salt. I sometimes add chopped tomatoes, but I did not have any on hand.
Then just start smashing together with a fork or a potato masher, which works really well. Combine and enjoy!
